Planning a Summer Vacation? Acura Technology Gets You There Smoothly
June 8, 2011 by AcuraLuxury, under Acura Performance, Acura Technology.

Summer is officially here, and we know you can’t wait to hit the road to beat the heat for some fun summer travel. Whether you plan on heading up to the cool pine tops of Prescott or Flagstaff, or have a fun vacation planned across state lines, Acura’s innovative technologies will get you there safely and comfortably.
Acura Technology Innovations
GPS-Linked Temperature Control: Acura’s available GPS-Linked Temperature Control System ensures that you and your passengers stay comfortable by constantly monitoring the location and intensity of the sun, and the adjusting to maintain the desired temperature. Depending on the sun’s relation to the cabin, the system can either increase cool air or reduce eat for the driver or passenger.
Super Handling All-Wheel Drive: Unlike most all-wheel-drive systems that can only transfer power from the front to the rear, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive can also transfer power between the rear wheels. When needed, up to 100% of rear power can be transferred to the outside wheel, literally pushing the vehicle through corners. The result is outstanding all-weather performance and cornering abilities no conventional all-wheel-drive system can match.
Active Sound Control: Active Sound Control uses two microphones to continuously monitor low-frequency engine noise, whether the stereo is on or off. When noise is detected, the system transmits an opposing frequency 180 degrees out of phase of the speakers. When these sound waves come into contact with the sound waves from the engine, they cancel each other out. The result is dramatically reduced engine noise for a quieter, more comfortable cabin.
ACE Body Structure: The ACE Body Structure enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions. It utilizes a network of connected structural elements to more evenly distribute crash energy throughout the front of the vehicle and then redirects it around the cabin. This helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the energy transferred to other vehicles.
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): The available Collision Mitigation Braking System constantly monitors the road ahead. If it detects that the vehicle is closing too rapidly on an object, CMBS alerts the driver. These warnings can help inform the driver that immediate action is necessary. If a collision becomes unavoidable, the system tightens the seatbelts and engages the brakes to reduce severity.
Blind Spot Information System: The Blind Spot Information System is designed to alert you whenever there is an object in your blind spot. Unlike some other systems that only detect objects at higher speeds, Acura’s uses a different kind of radar technology that not only works at higher speeds, but can also detect objects while travelling at speeds as low as six miles per hour.
